According to TechCrunch.com and other tech reporting services, CNN+ has launched and is reporting user information that’s about as bad as you would expect.

Day one downloads off the CNN+ application across all platforms is reported to be only 18,000. Compare that to Disney+ which had 4,000,000 downloads the first day. Downloads/installs then fell by half, averaging approximately 9,000 per day.

CNN has gone on record as stating they would need to amass 5,000,000 users by the end of year one and 10,000,000 total users at full capacity for the streaming news service to be financially viable. Right now CNN is on pace to have 3,285,000 users if current averages hold up, which they are not expected to do.

In comparison, Fox Nation, the service they hoped to compete with, has amassed 7,000,000 user since launching in late-2018.

CNN has sunk a total of $250,000,000 dollars into creating the platform, which includes approximately $100,000,000 in advertising.

It should also be noted that CNN failed to secure a streaming partnership with a secondary corporation in the space. Fox News was able to secure a partnership with Tubi for streaming rights. This makes CNN the only major streaming service without a partnership to provide their content.

Nice job CNN.
