Ingredients:

  • 4-5 lb pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup liquid smoke

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees F.
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Rub the mixture all over the pork.
  4. Place the pork in the smoker and smoke for 6-8 hours or until the internal temperature of the pork reaches at least 195 degrees F.
  5. Remove the pork from the smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. While the pork is resting, mix together the apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in a small pot. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  7. Use two forks to shred the pork. Add the shredded pork to the pot with the sauce and toss to coat the pork.
  8. Serve the pulled pork on buns with your favorite BBQ sauce and toppings. Enjoy!
